The Process of a Match
DumbleScore calculates its own probabilities for every match in the covered competitions and shows you where odds are higher than they should be according to our calculations. The foundation is data, not opinions: the strength of both teams and the ratings of the players who actually take the pitch. Every opportunity from a final analysis is listed with its outcome in the public performance evaluation, even when it misses.
Every match goes through the same steps:
- Preview up to 2 days before Probabilities for all markets based on the expected lineup; if the price is right, already the preview opportunity
- Final-Analyse around 60 minutes before As soon as the lineups are official, the model calculates with the 11 players each who actually play
- Chancen-Check directly afterwards Our probabilities against the fresh odds; if odds are clearly above our fair price, an opportunity is created. A preview opportunity is confirmed, changed or re-evaluated (no edge anymore)
- Live during the match Score and statistics, plus in-match impacts and the probability of another goal
- Review after the final whistle xG score against the score after 90 minutes; the opportunity is entered into the performance evaluation with its outcome
Preview. The preview is generated up to two days before kick-off, as soon as both teams have finished their previous match, at the latest 24 hours before kick-off. It calculates using the expected lineup and shows the probabilities for all markets. If a selection passes the rules at this stage, it shows the preview opportunity: earlier than the final analysis, but still without a confirmed lineup. Read more in From Preview to Final Analysis.
Final analysis. Lineups are only confirmed shortly before kick-off. As soon as they are available, the model recalculates with the eleven players each who actually play, and fetches the latest odds. On average, the final analysis is ready around 60 minutes before kick-off. The match page shows in the opportunity box whether you are seeing a preview or the final analysis and roughly when the final analysis will be available.
Opportunity check. Directly after the final analysis, we compare our probabilities with the fair odds from Pinnacle. If a selection is clearly above and meets all rules, it becomes the match's opportunity. If there was a preview opportunity, you see whether the final analysis confirmed or modified it, or re-evaluated it and no longer sees an edge. For most matches, the opportunity box shows No edge. How we select is explained in What an Opportunity Is.
Live. During the match, the Live tab shows match progress, statistics, the live ticker, and momentum. In addition, there are in-match impacts and the probability of another goal.
Review. After the final whistle, we compare the xG score with the score after 90 minutes and recalculate from the match's goal chances how well the outcome suited the opportunity. If there was an opportunity, it is listed with its outcome in the performance evaluation from now on. Read more in After the Match: Review.
